MEDICINAL 3.20 Wincanton is a huge price given conditions and handicapping. Rated as high as 144 over fences, most recent run was off 142 and over fences, he now reverts back to hurdles and runs off a mark of 127 today. He goes in the ground, unlike a few in this, and has some absolutely cracking form – plenty to suggest that the mark of 127 is one which he should run a big race from. He’s also used to carrying big weights so top-weight here will not be a problem especially in light of the much lower hurdle mark. His trainer’s last 10 runners have returned figures of 1 winner, 3 seconds and 2 thirds – so you could say his horses are running to form. In such a small field, and given the conditions, he’s a huge price at 33-1.
